On the palate, the wine displays a fine depth of deep, spicy fruit flavor, rich in cinnamon and liquorice characters with a background of dusty, soft ripe tannins. The rich core of dark fruit is supported by a long, elegant finish.
Ruby red in color, with garnet hues. The 2004 Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale Oro remains the bellwether wine from this historic property. It is a layered, full-bodied wine with attractive notes of tobacco, sweet red cherries, wild herbs and toasted oak. The wine’s density, persistence and complexity make it one of the better versions in recent memory
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate : 91 "The 2003 Romitorio Tenuta di Santedame is easily the most interesting of these wines. A blend of 60% Colorino and 40% Merlot, it reveals complex, kaleidoscopic aromatics that develop beautifully in the glass leading to layers of sweet dark fruit, mint, herbs and toasted oak. Richly concentrated in the palate, it offers outstanding depth of expression and a long, sweet finish."
An abundance of cherry and plum fruit flavors are backed by a rich, balanced structure for an intensely complex Merlot. Silky, full-flavored, firm, and built for today’s enjoyment with smooth tannins and lush layers of flavor.
The 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon emulates the fruity and complex wines which the Napa Valley has been famous for producing for over 4 decades. This wine exhibits the aromas and flavors of raspberries, cassis, cedar, chocolate, and toasty French oak. Not meant for long term aging but rather early consumption, the wine is well balanced with soft tannins and a long lingering finish. This wine will pair well with all red meat dishes.
