Since its introduction in 1978, Marlstone has been recognized as one of Sonoma County's premier Bordeaux-style wines. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Vedot, winemaker Erik Olsen sources the fruit from throughout the Alexander Valley, allowing him to hand pick the best lots of each varietal to isolate for the Marlstone program. The production of Marlstone is restricted to ensure the wine fully expresses Erik's vision for this special blend.  

A very fine example of Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, showing the elegance and complexity wines from that Sonoma County region can attain. Soft and intricate in tannins, the wine shows a m?lange of blackberry, currant, cherry, sweet dried herb and smoky flavors that are delicious now, and should hold well for several years.

This is a classically proportioned Merlot from Sonoma’s lushest corner for red wines. We have again accentuated our Merlot with nuances of an exceptional Cabernet Franc. This wine is intense without being astringent, and is rich in flavors of blackberries, black pepper and cloves. It pairs well with traditional French and Italian cuisines. 490 Cases produced

We’re now able to blend our own Petit Verdot and Malbec with our already outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot wines to bring you a wonderful “Bordeaux Style” wine. Through extensive tasting trials (Jo and I suffered through many nights at the kitchen table with innumerable combinations of our five wines), we have used only the cream of the crop and have been lucky enough to find that blend that is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Even though this wine has only been in the bottle a short time it is already proving itself in blind tastings against other well known stellar blends."

A rich wine with hints of allspice, cinnamon, and black pepper.  Normally this grape is used as a blender with Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot to enhance body and color but our Cabernet Franc is full flavored enough to warrant its own bottling.  Enjoy it with steak, BBQ, or after dinner with a nice bold cheese.
